: In Dual Radio, Firmware Upgrade page was not coming up

Pre-Requirements:
1. Cygwin 2. haserl Click here to download these utilities

Uploading Haserl file:

  • Assuming “haserl” file loaded in c:\haserl folder.
  • Close all Explorers (IE, FireFox , etc.,).
  • Check Ping status of Dual Radio, after radio pinging, wait approx 1min to enable SSH.
  • Open cygwin, type the following commands:
  • cd /cygdrive/c/haserl/
  • scp haserl root@<Dual Radio ip-address>:/usr/bin
  • {If it will ask for conformation, give “yes”,
    Then it will ask Password       , give “ngn”. Default IP Address of Radio 192.168.1.100}
  • Now open Web Interface of Dual Radio, select Administration -> firmware upgrade
  • Upload latest firmware.
Errors & solutions while this process:

Error 1: ssh: connect to host <ip – address of PC> port 22: Connection refused lost connection
Solution: Wait approx 1min.

Error 2: haserl file busy
Solution: Close all Explorers, Reboot the radio

Error 3: haserl is not a regular file ( or ) haserl file not found
Solution: Check haserl file, where it was saved, Based on this give step 1.

It is also possible that the RSA host key has just been changed. The fingerprint for the RSA key sent by the remote host is <MAC Addresses>

  • Telnet into radio: username: root, password: ngn (check latest username & password)
  • Type following commands :
    • vi /sbin/upgrade-local.sh
      {Press “/if “, enter key}
      {Press “/”, enter key}
      {Press again “/”, enter key}
      {Press “o”, type “then”, Esc key}
      {Press “:x” , enter key }
  • Open firmware upgrade page, upgrade latest firmware

Solutions

: Radio Pinging but Web Interface not coming up

:

  • Telnet into radio: username: root, password: ngn (check latest username & password)
  • Type following command: /etc/init.d/S50httpd
  • Open web interface now, select Administration -> firmware upgrade, Upgrade latest firmware

Note: If Step 2 result is : httpd already running ,then follow steps as follows :

  • Connect one MicroRed-NGN Radio which is web interface is working ,to PC.
  • Start Cygwin software.
  • Type the following commands : (wait upto 1 min,after radio pinging)
    1. rm -rf www
    2. scp -r root@<ip-address of working microred-ngn>:/www .
  • Now connect fault MicroRed-NGN to PC, then type following commands :(wait upto 1 min,after radio pinging)
    scp -r www root@<ip-address of faulty microred-ngn>:/jffs2/
  • Now reboot MicroRed-NGN

: IP Address /Subnet Mask Address Recovery

:

  • Open radio screws ,connect serial cable
  • Type following commands :
    • nvram get lan_ipaddr {it will shows IP Address}
    • nvram get lan_ipmask { it will shows Subnet Mask Address }

Iperf Commands :
At Server : iperf -s -w 200K -i 10
At Client : iperf -c <PC IP Address, which has running iperf server> -w 200K -i 10 -t 99999

: Intermittent Packet drop even after changing modem
: There may be impact of near by Heavy Voltage line (EB Lines) or Transformers within 50 meters from the CPE location.
:During feasibility study all the near by Electrical parameters has to be verified, so that it should not affect the CPE. Also find the alternate path to avoid such instance.

: New obstruction may have come in the LOS path
: Check the signal strength of the link consistently for every week, once if the signal level degrades with the previous value, a site audit has to be done and same to be reported to the customer immediately .

: Intermittent Packet loss
: May be high bandwidth utilization, also it exceeds the given b/w limit
: Each browser window requires minimum 8kbps speed, in case if the customer uses more systems, i.e. if customer is using 30 systems for a 256kpbs link and each system with 2 browser window. Customer requires 480kpbs link, in these cases it is recommend to have 512kpbs link for the customer.

: The cable length between the POE & ODU may exceeds 100 meters
: At the time of installation it will be working fine, but after few days the recital of the cable get worse and due to this it won’t support. Cut shot the cable length to 90 meters by finding the alternate routing

: What to do if the resistance of earth pit is high
(above 3ohms)
: Resistance may have increased due to various reasons
:

  1. By using a bigger grounding plate
  2. By burying the ground plate as deep as possible
  3. By having parallel ground plates with a distance of 10m between grounds
  4. By using salt, charcoal etc., to reduce resisitvity
  5. By using a combination of these methods
